Jamboree Ride Descriptions

4 Wheel Drive is recommended and a minimum of 400cc
"Difficulty Definitions"

Beginner: These rides are almost wholly on dirt roads in the trail system, some may contain graveled road sections. Some of the beginner rides may include short moderately steep sections or switchbacks.

Beginner - Intermediate: These rides are more advanced than just a Beginner ride. May challenge a beginner.

Intermediate: Intermediate rides generally include some road and ATV trail portions with some steep, rough or challenging trails. A ride may also be intermediate in nature due to its length.

Advanced: Advanced rides will generally include portions that are steep, rough, and otherwise difficult to maneuver. In some cases, rides are listed as advanced because of the length of the ride. NOT FOR BEGINNING RIDERS!

"Rider versus Non-Rider"

  • RIDER - Any person that is on a ride is considered a
    rider. Whether the person is driving or is just a passenger.

  • NON RIDER - Any person that does not go on any ride and
    only attends non-ride events. Such as: breakfasts, dinners, social, etc.


Ride #1
Lobdell Lake

Available: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Difficulty: Intermediate to Advanced | ~55 miles
Trail head: Antelope Valley Fire Station
Capacity: 20 quads

Maximum Elevation: ~9600 Ft.

This ride leaves from the Fire Station. Follows a dirt road high above the West Walker River. The views become more spectacular with each mile traveled. One stop is at the scenic Lobdell Lake, elevation ~9239 feet. After this stop, we will continue along a ridge line with some of the best views of the Sierra Nevada’s. The trail becomes narrower, rocky and steeper. Ride the “roller coaster” along Jackass Creek with a stop at Desert Creek. Then back on the trail heading for home. Spectacular views and wildlife abounds. Bring your camera. Bring your lunch as we will stop along the way to eat.

LIMITED SPACE  -  Thursday and Friday Only BBQ! Forget bringing a lunch and enjoy a great BBQ along the trail. This BBQ lunch is available for only $10 and  must be purchased ahead of time. Don’t want the BBQ lunch? Then pack your own as you watch the others eating a mighty fine BBQ lunch!

Quaint Little Cabin
Available

Leave from the Fire Station. Travel on a dirt trail stopping along the way to see an old mine, vistas of the Sierra Nevada’s then out along a canyon and ridges. Ride along an old windy trail amongst the free range cattle. Keep a sharp eye out for deer and other wildlife. Ride to the old Nugent cabin (elev. 8271) as our final destination. A short ways past our stop is the original cabin, use your imagination to take yourself back in time and picture the activities that once took place here. Make sure you see the old “river water” shower! Spectacular views and wildlife abounds. Bring your camera. Bring your lunch as we will stop along the way to eat.

Desert Creek Trail
Available: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Difficulty:Intermediate | ~60 miles
Trail head: Antelope Valley Fire Station (Jamboree main meeting location)

Maximum Elevation: ~7250 Ft.

This ride leaves directly from the Fire Station. Stops along the way include an old mine and a stop along a beautiful creek. This ride includes both forest and high desert riding. You will cross streams as we head to the picturesque town of Wellington in Smith Valley Nevada. Lunch stop will be at quaint restaurant where you can purchase lunch (lunch is on you) or pack your own lunch and eat outside. The ride continues along the West Walker River with views of the Antelope Valley from the north. Bring your camera and see if you can spot the wildlife.

Rockland Mine
Available: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Difficulty: Advanced | ~90 miles | Faster Paced!
Trail head: Antelope Valley Fire Station
Capacity: 20 quads

Maximum Elevation: ~8450 Ft.

Beginners and Intermediates are NOT allowed on this ride! This ride can be 8+ hours long and is faster paced! If you are a slow rider—do not come! Note that this a long ride. You are responsible for carrying your own water and extra fuel!

We reserve the right to exclude anyone we feel is not capable of doing this ride. 4x4 is required! No 2 wheel drive nor Sport Quads allowed!

This is a great ride and faster paced! Ride out from the Fire Station. Then fast paced across one mountain range heading for the Sweetwater mountains. Pace slows up a bit as we head for the hills. Keep an eye out for a bear, deer or other wildlife.

Wind our way through some canyons and along ridges. We ride into the Wilson Mine area as we stop to see some old buildings, the stamping mill and more. We then head east down the mountain into high desert with fantastic panoramic views before turning back west into the mountains and a great red rock canyon.

Our next stop will be the Rockland mine that has a year round ice flow inside (you can look but not safe to enter). From here, we start our way home as we travel through some open ranges with breathtaking views, along some narrow sandy trails and then towards back home. Pack your lunch, water and supplies. Extra gas is required, bring your own!

Indian Valley
Available: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Difficulty: Advanced | ~40 miles
Trail head: Antelope Valley Fire Station
Capacity: 12 quads

Maximum Elevation: ~8500 Ft.

Advanced – More Technical Riding -- Beginners and Intermediates are NOT allowed on this ride! This ride is an advanced ride. Narrow trail, some rock climbing, scratches may occur along the trail!

We reserve the right to exclude anyone we feel is not capable of doing this ride. 4x4 is required! No 2 wheel drive nor Sport Quads allowed!

Leaves from the Fire Station. Come explore an old mine road up to the Lilly Mine including some rock climbing. Then onto Indian Valley and Salmon Valley before another narrow, slow going trail. Reach an elevation of ~8400 feet before heading back down for more. This is an Advanced ride. Some scratches and scrapes may occur along the way.

Pack your own lunch, water and supplies.

Green Creek

Difficulty: Intermediate | ~70 miles round trip
Trail head: Hwy 395 & Green Creek road, ~35 mile drive and requires you transporting your ATV from Antelope Valley Fire Station.
Capacity: 15 quads

Maximum Elevation: ~10500 Ft.

This ride requires all ATV's/UTV's to be transported (your responsibility) to Bridgeport, ~35 miles south. We will caravan from the Antelope Valley Fire Station south along highway 395 to our staging area.

This ride has some breath taking views of Bodie and Mono Lake (in the far distance) along with many other views of high mountain lakes.

Afterwards on the drive back, stop in Bridgeport for an ice cream and the Jolly Kone or other goodies at the other great shops.

Green Creek

Sonora Pass

Difficulty: Intermediate ~30 miles round trip
Trail head: Hwy 108 near Marine Warfare Training Camp, ~25 mile drive and requires you transporting your ATV from Antelope Valley Fire Station.
Capacity: 20 quads

Maximum Elevation: ~9300 Ft.

This ride requires all ATV's/UTV's to be transported (your responsibility) to the Sonora Pass area , ~25 miles south. We will caravan from the Antelope Valley Fire Station south along highway 395 to our staging area.

This ride has probably the best scenic views of any ride in the Jamboree.

Masonic East Walker
Available: Thursday & Friday
Difficulty: Intermediate to Advanced | ~60 miles round trip
Trail head: Bridgeport, ~35 mile drive and requires you transporting your ATV from Antelope Valley Fire Station.

This ride requires all ATV's/UTV's to be transported (your responsibility) to Bridgeport, ~35 miles south. We will caravan from the Antelope Valley Fire Station south along highway 395 to our staging area. This ride starts out near the beautiful Bridgeport reservoir winding along a small canyon gaining elevation along the way. You will then break out onto a treeless mountain top with views that are to die for, then down through an open valley towards the famous East Walker River. Heading south and winding back along a beautiful tree lined trail leading up to the historic Masonic mine area. Great photo opportunities are abundant throughout this trail.

Afterwards on the drive back, stop in Bridgeport for an ice cream and the Jolly Kone or other goodies at the other great shops.

Photographers Dream Ride
Available: Wednesday & Saturday

This ride is great for those wanting more time along the way to take photographs. Actual route will be selected at the time of the Jamboree to maximize photo opportunities. Mountain vistas and wildflower close-ups are possible along the way. Stops are often as the scenery changes within just a short distance. The duration and quantity of stops is dictated by the group of riders. If the timing is right, Spring flowers may be in bloom for beautiful up-close photos.

Cameras are a must!

Aurora Canyon
Available: Wednesday & Saturday
Difficulty: Intermediate | ~60 miles round trip
Trail head: Bridgeport, ~35 mile drive and requires you transporting your ATV from Antelope Valley Fire Station.
Capacity: 20 quads

Maximum Elevation: ~9300 Ft.

Note: This ride is essentially the “To Bodie and Back” ride only extended, and there is NO stopping in Bodie.

This ride requires all ATV's/UTV's to be transported (your responsibility) to Bridgeport, ~35 miles south. We will caravan from the Antelope Valley Fire Station south along highway 395 to our staging area. This ride starts out at ~6500 foot elevation. We follow an old road out east of Bridgeport then turning south attaining an elevation of over 9300 feet. Then we drop down into the Bodie Historic Park but we do not stop. We will continue into Nevada then back around. And don't forget to bring your camera. Bring your lunch as there are no services inside Bodie. Then we mount up and head towards home.

Afterwards on the drive back, stop in Bridgeport for an ice cream and the Jolly Kone or other goodies at the other great shops.

Mount Patterson

Difficulty: Advanced | ~70 miles round trip

This ride leaves from the Antelope Valley Fire Station along a dirt road high above the West walker river. The views become more spectacular with each mile traveled.

One stop is at the scenic Lobdell Lake, elevation ~9239 feet. After this stop, we continue east and start our climb to the top of Mount Patterson (elevation 11,672’). Along our climb in the trees then we hit the steep switchbacks as we lose the trees and finally arrive in what most people call “moonscape”. We will stop at the top of Mt. Patterson for picture taking.

From here, we will head southeast and descend the “moonscape” for the trees and Belfort, an old mining area with a couple of old buildings. From here we will head east then south working our way back towards home.

Spectacular views and wildlife abounds. Bring your camera. Bring your lunch as we will stop along the way to eat.

Rattlesnake

Join us on the “Rattlesnake” and be one of only a few that has ridden 140 miles in a single day!

This ride takes off from the Antelope Valley Fire Station. The pace is picked up as we head east into the Sweetwater Mountains. We will pass by the Rockland Mine and down a beautiful red rock canyon out towards the East Walker River. After crossing the East Walker River, we will once again climb into the mountains. This trail follows the base of the mountains as we move south then west back to the West Walker River. Back along the West Walker River and back into the Sweetwater Mountains. We will climb fast and steady to the top of Mount Patterson (11,672’ elevation) then down the west face towards Lobdell Lake and home.

Note that gas is required on this trip! Bring your own fuel, food, drinks and repair kits.

This ride leaves from the Antelope Valley Fire along a dirt road heading north into the small town of Wellington Nevada. We wind our way thru Smith Valley untilw e start climbing thru Ricky Canyon. We reach a high point over 9000'.

We descend going thru mountin tops each with spectacular views and thru valleys with Aspens and small creeks. This ride has a bit of everything but most inportantly it has beautiful views and vistas galore.
