Plan B...

Hello Eastern Sierra Jamboree participant..

We know that there has been some concern due to the “Boot Fire” that is located southeast of Coleville/Walker. Our valley is not threatened and our skies are generally clear as the fire is burning southeast of us and moving away.

The Eastern Sierra Jamboree is still a GO! In fact some of our guides were out just yesterday pre-riding some trails (and having a blast!) and will be back out on Sunday and Monday.

This fire is currently being managed by a Type 2 fire team. They are currently set up at the Antelope Valley Fire Department on Larson Lane (the facility that we normally use). The Jamboree Committee met last night to implement our Plan B and this is laid out below. For the most part, everything should generally operate the same as in the past with a few changes. The one thing that will not change is the amount of FUN everyone will have!

So here is our Plan B…

DRY CAMPING

Dry Camping is still at the property adjacent to the Fire Department on Larson Lane as normal. Because we will be using this lot as the staging area that rides will be leaving from, all dry campers MUST park parallel or perpendicular to the fence adjacent to the fire department and the one parallel to the road (stay to the outer edges of the property!). If you are not parked in an orderly manner and tight (park close to your neighbor!), you will be asked to move so PLEASE be forewarned! We need lots of room for the staging area for the ATVs and UTVs.

REGISTRATION

Registration will be held at the Meadowcliff Lodge and Coleville/Walker KOA (110437 Us Hwy 395 Coleville, CA 96107) from 5pm to 7pm (note that we moved this up one hour from normal). The registration will be at the RV Clubhouse (park on highway or at restaurant, enter the main drive, no vehicles, and turn right before the office, the clubhouse is slightly ahead and to the left.. you can’t miss it!).

For those who are Dry Camping, we will have a bus that will run from the dry camp area to Meadowcliff/KOA and back, for your convenience.

For those of you staying at motels in Walker, we will have a bus running back and to. Please call the phone number on the yellow sign located out front of your motel (the pickup, drop off area).

For those of you that will be driving in from Topaz Lake motels or other locations, parking at the Meadowcliff/KOA MUST be on the highway shoulder directly across from Meadowcliff/KOA, in its Restaurant parking (no trailers allowed) or just north along the highway. Sorry for any inconvenience and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

DAILY BREAKFAST (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

All Breakfasts will be held at the Meadowcliff Lodge and Coleville/Walker KOA (110437 US Hwy 395 Coleville, CA 96107) from 7am to 8:30am at the RV Clubhouse (same place as registration).

For those of you Dry Camping, we will have a bus that will run from the dry camp area to Meadowcliff/KOA and back, for your convenience. No riding of OHVs from dry camping to Meadowcliff/KOA.

For those of you that will be driving in from other motels, you can park ON Larson Lane near the Dry Camping area and be bused or drive over to the registration location. Note that all parking at the Meadowcliff/KOA MUST be on the highway shoulder directly across from Meadowcliff/KOA, in its Restaurant parking (no trailers allowed) or just north along the highway. Sorry for any inconvenience and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

NOTE – Please limit vehicle parking to Larson Lane EAST of the Fire Station along the shoulders. Space in the Dry Camping lot will be limited as that is our staging area for the rides.

TRAILERED RIDES

In the past we have caravanned from the Fire Department to the trail heads. Due to limited space due to the Incident Base at the Fire Department, maps to the trailheads with directions will be handed out and everyone can drive themselves to the trailheads. Depart times for each will be set so everyone can get to the trailheads on time. Ask us at registration if you have any questions.

FIRE DEPARTMENT DINNER & DANCE
JAMBOREE’s SATURDAY DINNER

These dinners will be held at the Antelope Valley Community Center (442 Mule Deer Rd, Walker California).

Fire Department dinner/dance will be from 5pm – 10pm.
Jamboree Dinner will be from 5:30pm – 9pm.

FREE “Dial a ride” buses are available to everyone from the Dry Camping area and all Motels/RV parks (Coleville/Walker only, Topaz Lake not serviced) to the Antelope Valley Community Center.

Or you may drive your own vehicle (no OHVs) to the Community Center.

LIMITATION OF ROAD USAGE

As per California Law, no OHVs may be ridden on any street. We DO have access to Larson Lane and a portion of Eastside Lane on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, flaggers are out controlling traffic. In the mornings, OHVs CANNOT be on the streets PRIOR to 8am as not to interfere with any Fire vehicles. This should not be a problem as Bus service is running from the Dry Camp/Staging Area prior to 8am.
